COPING WITH PAH: Patient & Caregiver Diaries

The diaries listed below are written by PH patients and caregivers who wish to share their lives with others. Diarists are under no obligation to write, nor is their writing critiqued or edited in any way. These are bona fide original works and represent a cross section of patients - young and old - who feel they have something to say. We invite you to browse and if you get hooked, we hope you will communicate with the writers through the comment section or email.

Periodically we revamp our diary section to enhance system performance. In July 2006, we moved diaries with no activity after November 2004 to the inactive list after sending out emails to the diarists. We only received a few responses so have had to make a tough decision. If someone’s diary has been moved and they want to begin to write again, we will happily reinstate their login and passwords and move their journals to the active list.

In the best of all worlds, we would be informed when people decide to stop writing or if something happens to them, someone would notify us so that we could place a final, informative entry in a diary. But that hardly ever happens.
The list below contains writers who for whatever reason, no longer write in their diaries. If we know why, we have added a last entry and when people tell us they no longer intend to write, we encourage them to add a final entry in their own words.

Although it is frustrating for the reader when a body of work comes to an abrupt end without resolution or explanation, we should all remember what a gift we have in these journals. They are glimpses into the lives of our PAH brothers, sisters and caregivers. We are grateful to them for sharing.
