If you’re interested in finding out about clinical trials (AKA research) or just want to get a glimmer of the work currently being conducted, we’d like to introduce you to some very good search tools.
ClinicalTrials.gov provides regularly updated information about federally and privately supported clinical research in human volunteers. ClinicalTrials.gov gives you information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details.
SearchClinicalTrials.org allows you to search multiple websites for clinical trial listings, results, and publications at one time. Click the Advanced Search link for more search options. It will even do a search of trials within a designated distance of your zip code.
SearchClinicalTrials.org is sponsored by the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP), "a first-of-its-kind non-profit organization founded in 2003 and located in Dedham, Massachusetts. CISCRP’s mission is to promote greater awareness and understanding of clinical research participation and the role that it plays in public health by educating patients, the public, the media, policymakers, and medical and research professionals about clinical research participation and what it means to be an active participant in the process." [quoted from the CSCRP website]
CenterWatch is a "Boston-based publishing and information services company and a business of The Thomson Corporation. We provide information services used by patients, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies, CROs and research centers involved in clinical research around the world."
"You can use this site to find a wealth of information about clinical research, including listings of more than 41,000 active industry and government-sponsored clinical trials, as well as new drug therapies in research and those recently approved by the FDA." [Quoted from the CenterWatch website]
