Introduction

PHCentral's Medical Section is provided to help explain some of the basics about Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) and Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH).  Although we do try to keep current, the information you find here may be incomplete or have been superseded by newer studies, protocols or ideas.  We therefore strongly urge site visitors seeking the latest medical advice and treatment options for PH and any of the diseases associated with PH, to gather information from a variety of reputable resources including other medical websites, published articles and their own physician(s).

If you are new to the site, you may wish to visit our "new to ph?" section  which can be located on the above navigation bar.  It is an excellent place to start as you will obtain a good overview of the entire website there.

Lynn Schaefer, our medical editor who passed away in 2003 provided much of the original information for these pages.  We have continued to edit and update the section along the way as new information becomes available but do not want to forget our friend Lynn, who did the original research for the med section in the early 2000's. We are all so grateful to her for establishing the fremework for what has become an excellent primer on the basics of pulmonary hypertension.
