Family and Friends, Thank you for visiting this beautiful memorial to a beautiful wife and friend. The two pictures were taken in the poconos and on our honeymoon. The poconos were such a big part of her life and we were never happier than when we were on our honeymoon together.

I've known Kathy and Mike for what seems like my whole life. They were what made the poconos a good place to go because you knew you were surround by friends. Kathy was the most giving person I have ever met, she would do anything for anyone. Her amazing love for her family and friends was part of what made Kathy a very special person. My husband and I were at Kathy and Mike's wedding and I've never seen two people more in love and happy to spend each day with one another. Druing the begining of Kathy's illness she never gave up hope, and never stop thinking of others. I didn't see Kathy or talk to her during the final months but my thoughts and prayers were always with her. Kathy is never far from my thoughts daily, I know she is in heaven probably taking care of God.

Although it has been over 5 years since I've seen Kathy, the pictures above immediately bring me back to her smiling face, to the Poconos, to the tennis courts, etc. My relationship with Kathy was always a selfish one. As many of you know, Kathy was an extremely easy laugh. This fact was not lost on me. I spent literal hours making her laugh, just to get that positive reinforcement. It seems to symbolize her life, giving of herself to make others happy. Thank you, Kathy, for all the times I will remember fondly. And thank you, Michael, for sharing your treasure with me.

I never knew Kathy - and I only know Michael thru the site but I must tell you that she obviously was a very special person. To have the love of her husband during her illness and the support that Michael must have given her, is something special in this day and time. We've known Mike and Kathy for a long time. I used to work with Mike when he worked at Boeing. I first met Kathy over the phone. We had a great friendship over the phone. When I finally got to meet her I knew I was right about the kind of person she was. We would sit on the phone and talk for hours. It was always about Mike. Her love for him was unquestionable. From day one she was so devoted to him. I don't think there are any two people on this earth that could have loved each other more. Kathy was a passionate person. Passionate about everything, her family, her friends, and Mike. I couldn't wait for the two of them to marry. I knew that match was made in Heaven. I would tell that to Mike on a daily basis. Even in her final months she still was so concerned about everyone else. I still get to talk to Kathy, not on the phone, but in my prayers. I know she's watching over all of us. Kathy is definitely an angel of God. Thank you, Mike, for giving us all the opportunity to know and love Kathy.

And what marvelous memories they are - from Lehigh to the Poconos, from Fraternity affairs to family events, from our wedding day to Mike & Kathy's. The last time we visited Kathy, she cradled our infant son in her arms and offered that familiar smile we have come to know and love. This is the memory we choose to recall most frequently, as it reminds us to not overlook life's simple pleasures. Thank you Kathy - absent but never forgotten. And thank you Mike - without you, we would never have been honored with Kathy's presence among us.

Memories of Kathy go back to the day she was born. The joy of watching her "every first" event are very vivid and full of great pride. I loved to tease her because she would never expect it from her uncle. But I did it anyway. As she grew older we shared interests and I listened to what her goals were. She always wanted to do what was right. Her wedding day and her love for Michael was very strong and wonderful to see. Then when Kathy became ill, I saw another side of her. Her determination to make the best of the situation while always trying very hard to remain upbeat and show us all a smile. It was a hard and long struggle for her and while I'm sorry she is not with us, I'm just glad that she has found peace and is not suffering any longer. She is missed a great deal and loved even more.

LIVE: Kathy lived life to the fullest. You know the old saying, "Busy girls are happy girls"? That was our Kathy. Always doing for someone else, never for herself, and she was always happy in whatever she did. Kathy did everything humbly and quietly--never complaining. While in the hospital, instead of staying in her room she would walk around the rooms helping other patients "master" the Flolan technique. Everyone there adored her.

LOVE: Kathy loved to the fullest. This was a young women who loved everyone and everything--from family to children to food to strangers, from plants to animals. Kathy loved horseback riding and beautiful sunsets. St. Anthony was her favorite. And shop? She loved to shop--for food, clothes, thrift shops, knitting, crocheting, sketching, malls. She left no "store" unturned. She'd flit in and out. Just give her her much loved little "gray" car and the keys and she was off. Her wheelchair never stopped her. Advice?--she would stay on the phone for hours patiently giving advice to others with her illness.

LAUGH: Kathy had the hardiest laugh and the cutest giggle. Thre room lit up when she walked in. In essence, Kathy was a "clown." She loved doing impressions and making people laugh. She tried so hard not to show her illness--trying to fool everyone around her. Little did she know we all knew how she was hurting. We went along trying to remember her wonderful sense of humor in days long gone. I think that is what everyone will miss most--her laughter.Heaven is a happier, better place since Kathy arrived. I'm sure God enjoys her antics and her impish impressions, her laughter and her smile, her patience and most of all, her never-ending Love. I hope He cherishes and takes care of my daughter--all I have left are wonderful memories and a votive candle.

It has been a little over 2 years now and I miss her deeply. My little sister even though she was older than myself, was such a caring person and she always thought about other people and how they felt. I will never forget her, especially her love for Michael. I understand Life goes on but it is rather difficult when somebody very special like my sister is no longer present. I hope someday somebody could explain why such a wonderful person was taken away. My Sister was such a lovely person and she was very old fashioned. I could spend hours talking about My Sister and the years we spent together but I know my time is limited. Why she is not here to share her life with michael I cannot explain but all I can say is She was the most loving person I will ever know and I will always remember her as "My Little Sister" I miss you and someday we will be together again.

Kathy was a very special person. I met her through my dad, Dan Riley, who worked with her husband Michael and also lived down the street from them. I remember that my dad thought very highly of Kathy, and it didn't take me long to understand why. When I first met her, I remember how she immediately struck me as someone extraordinarily kind and thoughtful. She had a warm inner spirit that seemed to glow whenever she smiled, and her presence always made everyone around her feel at ease and peaceful. What was even more extraordinary was that as her illness progressed and her health began to fail, her smile never faded. Her thoughtfulness, kindness, inner strength, and zeal for life never wavered. Kathy was a truly remarkable person and I am very thankful to have met and known such a rare and wonderful individual worthy of emulation.

It is very odd that such we share a common name and the name of our wife (even spelled with a K). I want you to know that I am very sorry for your loss. Kathy seemed like a wonderfull woman. I was born in Poland and I met my wife Kathy in Michigan. One day I just happened to type her name into the web and up popped this web site. Very weird indeed! We recently moved to Phoenix Arizona and I am an design engineer working at a local consultant firm. Today would have been her 42nd birthday. I can't believe it is almost 9 years since we lost her. I miss her and I know she is upstairs with my Father and the rest of the family. My Father passed away on August 2, 1987. On August 2, 1998 we lost Kathy. I remember my sister saying to me over at the hospital in Baltimore, MD "Please don't forget about me". We think about her every day and she will never be forgotten. My wife and I had a little baby girl back in March 2004. I know Kathy is watching over her. When my wife became pregnant, I knew our chances of having a girl was 100%. Kathy left this world too soon but I know she is in a better place. Her husband at the time Michael Szczepkowski was always there for her. He stood by her and supported her from the beginning. I know there will always be a place in his heart for Kathy. Kathy, we miss you, I miss you and one day we will be together again.

St. Stan's recently had a reunion with all of its students from 1970-1990. I could not attend this reunion because it would have been to hard to deal with. I have been getting e-mails from everyone who did not know you passed. You always said you "Never wanted to be forgotten". I am sure now, more people will be thinking of you.
